The Beginning....

My name is Elizabeth and I'm the farmer at Bee 'n Bloom at J & E Farm. I grew up on a farm in LaGrange, Georgia and have always loved growing things and being around animals. We were able to buy my cousin's house a few years ago that is just down the road from where I grew up and since then have had a not so small vegetable garden. We've also tried our hand at chickens and raise Katahdin hair sheep. My cousin is a florist and mentioned that I should start growing flowers and I thought, sure like anyone would want to buy flowers. I can't seem to give away the 5 gallon buckets of squash who's gonna want flowers from my backyard? One day while scrolling on instagram I came across a reel of a farmer walking through rows and rows of flowers and the peace that image brought to me was unreal. Of course I've seen flowers growing before but seeing the blooms and sunshine just instantly put me at ease. I thought now that would be a beautiful life. I'd never really put any thought into flower farming and didn't realize it was really a thing until I started digging deeper and boy howdy is it a thing! I've started this as a way to document our flower farming adventure in hopes of learning from the ups and downs and all the in-between!!
